Sunrises are always beautiful, but I love an evening sky the most. Watching the sun begin to set, the skies to darken, and the day begin to go to sleep relaxes me. I used to be a night owl, staying up until all hours of the night working and sewing away. The older I have become, and the more the chores and kids wear me out, the more likely I am to be in bed before 10:00pm. In all fairness, I am usually up and going by 5 am on most days of the week. But I do love the evenings, when I can see the sunset and watch the evening clouds roll in.
I guess that has always been one of my fascinations with a good storm. I love to see the clouds building up, the skies darkening, and smelling the rain on it’s way. A few nights ago we were in a Tornado Warning. To air on the side of caution, we went ahead and moved to the basement while waiting for it to pass. The oldest son was nervous, the youngest was just happy to be on his phone for an hour longer that evening, and the husband and I were outside watching the storms roll by. The storm was moving at about 45 mph. The clouds were flying through the sky, and it was gorgeous shade of deep, dark blue.
Tonight another round of clouds rolled into the sky, this time without the storm warnings, just some nice dark clouds. As we fed the baby goats their last bottle of the night, we watched the clouds around us and talked about how stunning the sky was. Mother Nature had given us another sky to admire. Views like this help to take in another deep breath, inhaling in that night air and get ready to put us to bed. I had great plans of sewing tonight, making another something beautiful, but instead I will enjoy the views that were put in front of me, and spend the rest of the evening relaxing. I’m sure the machines won’t mind an evening off as well. I’ll put something pretty under the needle tomorrow. Enjoy the sky photos.
